Teach
“They see in you that Christ is loved above all things and they are glad.” Bishop Flavin
Our teaching apostolate flows from the purpose of our existence: that Christ may reign in the hearts of all. As religious, our most important and effective means for evangelization is the witness of our lives consecrated totally to God. The Church teaches that consecrated life “‘manifests the inner nature of the Christian calling’ and the striving of the whole Church as Bride toward union with her one Spouse” (Vita Consecrata, § 3). By fidelity to our call, we witness to that which Christ deemed “the one thing necessary” (Luke 10:42).
In our apostolate of Catholic education, we share in a particular way the heart of the Church’s existence. In his encyclical Redemptoris Missio, the mission of Christ the Redeemer, Pope Saint John Paul II states, “The Church is missionary by her very nature” (§ 5). According to the spirit of our charism, we are contemplatives who teach. Though we strive for excellence in teaching, it is our interior life that ultimately makes our apostolate fruitful. By our manner with those whom we serve, we make Christ the Teacher present: His wisdom, knowledge, patience, and most especially His special love for children.

"There is no more noble way you can spend your life
than as a Catholic teacher in a Catholic school
because the effect of your work,
on the souls of the little ones, will be eternal."
-Bishop Flavin
Our Sisters primarily serve in the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lincoln. We work as principals, full-time classroom teachers, spiritual life and sacramental preparation coordinators, and in other school roles. In addition to teaching the secular subjects, we place particular emphasis on daily Religion class to form our students in a sound knowledge of and love for the faith, a priority on daily prayer, and fidelity to the Church’s Magisterium.
The goal of our teaching is to prepare the students to be disciples of Christ the King in this world and saints in the Kingdom to come. We guide the children into personal relationship with Jesus Christ by teaching them to open their hearts to His love and to serve Him by loving others. We form our students in the unique charism of our community, with its particular focus on total belonging to Christ the King; love for the Church; love for the Eucharist and Mary, our Queen; reverence for the priesthood; daily prayer; openness to vocation; missionary zeal; and a self-giving love for others.
